Title: IT Analyst – Generalist
Location: New York, NY
Reports to: CTO
 

Our client is seeking to add a member of their IT infrastructure and support team.  They are a profitable and growing proprietary trading desk located in New York City.  Qualified and successful candidates will have 3+ years’ experience in a highly technical and collaborative role, preferably in financial services. Responsibilities will mainly consist of firm-wide technology support, including desktop, enterprise and virtual systems. Ideally, candidates will have working knowledge of Windows environments, VMware, SQL Server and MS Exchange.

Reasonable expectations of candidates to stay abreast of new technologies, firms’ technical requirements within industry standards, and best practices of network & enterprise security.  This position ultimately requires employee’s proactive planning and implementation of new technology aligned with the firm’s evolving needs, while maintaining effective communication with management.  This role requires candidates to work in a fast paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and communicate with the firm’s principals regularly.

 

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years work experience in a technical role.

  • Strong knowledge of the MS Windows environment including (but not limited to) Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, SQL, Exchange.

  • Strong knowledge of virtual systems, including VMware and Hyper-V.

  • Knowledge of backup systems such as Backup Exec.

  • An Understanding of TCP/IP as well as various network devices such as switches routers and firewalls.

  • Experience with Bloomberg, Redi, and/or other financial data & trading platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and upgrade client servers and desktops, often running on a VMware architecture. 

  • Maintain an Active Directory structure, security and group policy.

  • Backup, tape rotation, backup verification and restore.

  • Maintain MS SQL and all applications that use this database. This includes installation, upgrades and upkeep of applications and SQL. 

  • Maintain aspects of MS Exchange 2010 email and messaging infrastructure.

  • Maintain and upgrade, as needed client firewall and telecommunications, including remote access.

  • Researching and evaluating new software and hardware considered for purchase. 

  • Maintain patch schedule, virus protection and local firewalls for desktops and servers.

  • Responsible for compliance with all software licensing.

  • Creation and upkeep of batch scripting as necessary.

  • Yearly audit of network security, following industry standards to be determined by the Chief of Technology.

  • Other responsibilities include, but not limited to, DHCP, DNS, Terminal Services.
